Google to invest $900M in Italy's economic recovery

Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced on Thursday the tech giant will invest over $900 million in the next five years to help Italy amid its economic recovery from the coronavirus crisis.

"Google is proud to be a partner in Italy's economic recovery," Pichai said. "Today Google announces Italia in Digitale, a new plan to accelerate the country’s economic recovery by offering a series of tools, training and partnerships to support businesses and job seekers," he added.

As part of the initiative, Google will also launch two Cloud regions in partnership with Italian telecommunications provider TIM and help over 700,000 small and medium businesses and individuals digitize.
