Digital travel company Booking.com said on Tuesday it intends to sack approximately 25% of its workers due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Glenn Fogel, CEO of Booking.com and parent company Booking Holdings confirmed around 4,300 employees will be fired and that "nothing can mitigate the impact that this crisis has had and will continue to have on both the travel sector and our business."

The company stated that the coronavirus crisis "devastated the travel industry, and we continue to feel the impact as travel volumes remain significantly reduced," adding it has to "restructure our organization to match our expectation of the future of travel."
