US markets mixed at closing bell after Powell speech

The United States stock markets were mixed at the closing bell on Thursday. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell speaking earlier in the day at the Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium said that the Federal Reserve will target a 2% inflation rate on average from now on. United States President Donald Trump is expected to hold a speech at the Republican National Committee and accept the party's nomination.

The Dow Jones Industrial was up 0.57% while Walmart Inc was the best performer, growing 4.54%. The Nasdaq 100 decreased by 0.38% with Dollar Tree as the worst performer, as it fell 7.21%. The S&P 500 rose by 0.17% as Live Nation Entertainment Inc jumped 8.77%.

The euro was 0.09% lower against the greenback at 4:03 pm ET, to change hands for $1.18190 at 4:04 pm ET.
