The Dow Jones closed Wednesday's trading session with strong gains, following the upward trajectory that the major stock market indexes in the United States have been on in August and September. Traders shrugged off some of the worries caused by the coronavirus pandemic, as Census Bureau's report on factory orders for July prompted optimism.

Both the Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500 saw new all-time highs, as investors took profits from high-performing shares such as Tesla Inc. and Apple Inc. after their dizzying surges.

The Dow Jones soared 1.59% or 454 points as the session ended with Coca-Cola advancing 4.21%. The Nasdaq 100 jumped 1.04% at the closing bell as Lam Research and Align Technology rose by 6.50% and 6.22%, respectively. The S&P 500 climbed 1.54% at the close led by DXC Technology's 11.58% surge. The euro declined by 0.56% against the dollar, selling for $1.18450 at 4:02 pm ET.
