Europe rises premarket after upbeat data

Shares on major European stock markets were higher in premarket trade on Friday after GfK reported that consumer confidence in the United Kingdom hit a six-month record. Investors' sentiment may have been positively impacted by Novavax's announcement of the start of phase three coronavirus vaccine trials in the UK.

The DAX increased by 0.54%, while London's FTSE 100 gained 0.73% at 7:17 am CET. The CAC 40 climbed 0.52% at 7:45 am CET.

The euro was flat compared to the dollar at 7:18 am CET, trading at 1.16691. The British pound rose by 0.06% against the American currency, going for 1.27542 at the same time.
