Europe opens mixed amid vaccine news

Major stock markets in Europe opened mixed at the beginning of Friday's trading session with the focus on the coronavirus and recent vaccine news. Novavax announced it is starting the Phase 3 stage of its coronavirus vaccine clinical trial in the United Kingdom which on Thursday reported a new record high of 6,634 infected people. The same infamous record was recorded by France who had record 16,096 daily COVID-19 cases.

The FTSE 100 grew by 0.11% at the opening bell. Fresnillo Plc was the best performer going up by 1.89%. The DAX stood flat with Deutsche Bank AG rising by 0.81%. The CAC 40 decreased by 0.20% at 9:01 am CET as Total went down by 1.09%.

The euro stood flat against the dollar at 9:01 am CET to sell for 1.16707, while the pound grew by 0.20% to $1.27682 at the same time.
