Europe turns to losses as virus fears take over

Shares on the major European stock markets started trading in the negative territory on Friday, after having opened the week's last trading session mixed. Traders remained cautious as the number of daily registered COVID-19 infections kept rising in both Europe and the rest of the world.

The DAX plunged 1.42% at 12:22 pm CET, while the CAC 40 dropped by 1.47% at the same time. A minute later, in London, the FTSE 100 was down by 0.43%.

The euro declined by 0.22% against the dollar, to sell for $1.16454 at 12:26 pm CET, while the pound sterling lost 0.26% versus the US currency, changing hands at $1.27123 a minute after that.
