Wall Street opens higher after positive sales data

Stocks on Wall Street started trading higher on Friday primarily boosted by strong US retail sales data. Seasonally adjusted turnover in retail trade in the United States grew 1.9% on a monthly basis to land at $549.3 billion in September.

Meanwhile, Washington continued to send mixed signals about progress toward a stimulus deal. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said earlier that the GOP needs to get serious and work with Democrats to come to an agreement that helps working families.

The Dow Jones rose 0.34% at the start of the session in New York with Boeing Co. rising by 3.85%. The S&P 500 climbed 0.34%. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq 100 jumped 0.47%. Vertex Pharmaceuticals was the best performer within both indexes going up by 2.79%.

The euro inclined 0.26% against the dollar at 9:29 am ET, buying 1.17360.
