Bitcoin hits $13,000 after PayPal allows crypto buying

Bitcoin soared to $13,000 for the first time in over a year after PayPal said it now allows customers to trade with crypto assets using its online wallets.

The world's most widespread cryptocurrency reached the highest level since July 2019 as it traded at a daily high of $13,000.

Bitcoin rallied 8.96% over the past 24 hours to sell for $12,849.43 at 5:31 pm ET. The digital currency is up over 12% for the week, over 23% for the month and has soared nearly 80% since the start of the year.
