United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson plans to move the deadline for new petrol and diesel cars sales ban from 2035, as was previously planned, to 2030, the Financial Times reported on Saturday.

The prime minister is set to announce the change during a speech regarding the environmental police, which could happen in the next seven days, the report read.

Johnson has initially set the deadline for 2040 but has shortened the window of time given to the automakers in February.
