FAA lifts ban on Boeing 737 MAX after 20 months

The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said on Wednesday it is lifting the ban on Boeing 737 MAX.

The aircraft was grounded in the spring of 2019 after it was involved in two deadly crashes due to a software error.

Last month, the EU Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) cleared the 737 MAX to fly again after determining the aerospace company fixed the software and demonstrated a "high enough" level of safety.

Boeing shares surged over 5.6% in premarket trading on the news.
