Twitter ban on Trump sets dangerous precedent - Dorsey

A single corporation or person having the power to control "part of the global public conversation" sets a dangerous precedent, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said commenting on his company's decision to ban President Donald Trump from its platform.

"While there are clear and obvious exceptions, I feel a ban is a failure of ours ultimately to promote healthy conversation," Dorsey explained, adding that a move such as this one has "real and significant" ramifications. "This moment in time might call for this dynamic, but over the long term it will be destructive to the noble purpose and ideals of the open internet," he asserted.

The decision to disable the president's account comes after he was accused of inciting the group of his supporters that entered the Capitol building last week while Congress was in seassion.
