China won't lift Boeing 737 MAX ban until concerns are 'addressed'

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) stated on Monday that it will maintain the ban on Boeing Co.'s 737 MAX airplane until all the safety concerns have been "fully resolved."

The regulator said it is cooperating with its counterpart from the United States, and that "after the major safety concerns of China get properly addressed," the CAAC "will carry out certification test flights in a step-by-step and planned way."

The ban on the airplane was lifted by the Federal Aviation Administration in November last year, followed by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency reapproval in January 2021.
