Asia trades negatively, Nikkei falls over 3%

Asian stock markets started the week on a negative note as all major indexes experienced significant drops over potential recession fears in the United States. Economic data from Japan in the form of the All Industry Activity Index was due later in the day.

The Japanese Nikkei 225 plunged by 3.35% at 4:28 am CET. The South Korean Kospi Composite was down 1.70% at the same time.

China's Shanghai Composite dropped 1.21% at 4:14 am CET while the Shenzhen Composite fell by the same amount at 4:30 am CET. Hong Kong's Hang Seng traded 0.34% lower at 4:31 am CET.

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 went down 1.18% at 4:31 am CET.

The US dollar lost 0.12% against the Japanese yen to change hands for 109.7870 at 4:32 am CET.
