Japan's CPI up 0.5% in July YoY

Japan's consumer price index (CPI) stood at 101.6 in July, rising 0.5% on a yearly basis, according to a new report by the Statistics Bureau released on Friday. The figure was unchanged compared to the previous month.

Prices of all items except fresh food increased by 0.6% year-over-year, while all items except fresh food and energy were 0.6% more expensive compared to the previous year.

Prices of goods rose 0.8% on an annual basis, but decreased by 0.2% if seasonaly adjusted. The price of services remained unchanged on a seasonally adjusted basis. Transportation and communication sectors saw the greatest price increase, around 0.5%, while the prices of clothes and footwear decreased the most, by 2%.
