Novartis' net sales up 10% to $12.17B in Q3

Novartis announced on Tuesday that its net sales in the third quarter of 2019 stood at $12.17 billion, rising 10% compared to the same period a year ago but still topping market estimates. Earnings per share (EPS) jumped 11% year on year to $0.90 and net income was up 8% to $2.04 billion.

Core EPS surged 16% to $1.41 and core net income increased 14% to $3.75 billion in the three month period. Operating income amounted to $2.36 billion, growing by 5% compared to the same period in 2018, while core operating income climbed 15% to $3.97 billion.

"Novartis continued its excellent performance this quarter with double-digit increases in sales and core operating income with growing margins. We increased our full-year sales and core operating income guidance with growth continuing in both Innovative Medicines and Sandoz," CEO Vas Narasimhan stated.
