Pfizer willing to sell vaccines to individual US states

Pharmaceutical company Pfizer shared in a statement on Thursday that it would be open to selling COVID-19 vaccines directly to American states, under the condition that the United States government agrees to those terms and issues permissions to individual states.

"Before we can sell directly to State governments, HHS [Department of Health and Human Services] would need to approve that proposal based on the EUA [Emergency Use Authorization] granted to Pfizer by the FDA," the company statement said.

The decision comes after American state officials, such as Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, have come forward with the proposal, criticizing the inefficiency of the federal government.
