Asia stocks surge amid COVID-19 vaccine hopes

Markets in the Asia-Pacific region increased on Thursday after positive news regarding the development of a potential coronavirus vaccine. The Pfizer and BiNTech COVID-19 vaccine showed positive results as it created antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Japan's Nikkei 225 increased 0.65% at 4:30 am CET as the dollar traded flat against the yen at the same time, going for 107.5170.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite was up 0.68% at 4:27 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite gained 0.78% at 4:44 am CET. Hong Kong's Hang Seng traded 1.46% higher at 4:45 am CET.

The South Korean Kospi increased by 0.87% at 4:46 am CET while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 added 1.01% at the same time.
