Europe higher premarket amid vaccine hopes

Major indexes on the European markets traded in the green amid the optimistic news regarding COVID-19 treatment and vaccine. After Gilead Sciences revealed that its drug, remdesivir, curbs the mortality rate among coronavirus patients, the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University ran a trial of a vaccine made by the Russian Gamalei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology and reportedly found the vaccine safe and effective.

The DAX jumped 1.47% at 7:31 am CET, as the FTSE 100 followed suit and gained 1.10% at the same time. The CAC 40 rose 1.28% at 7:30 am CET.

The euro increased by 0.33% against the dollar, selling for $1.13362 at 7:33 am CET, while the pound went up 0.36% versus the greenback, going for $1.26654 at 7:34 am CET.
