German firms see public life restrictions for 8.5 more months - Ifo

Businesses across Germany expect public life restirictions that were imposed over the coronavirus pandemic to remain in place for next 8.5 months, according to the Ifo economic institute's survey that was published on Monday.

Companies within tourism and entertainment sectors, which were most severely affected by the crisis, saw restrictions stretching for another 13 months. Meanwhile, the beverage sector expects it to remain in force over next 6.4 months.

The country registered more than 217.000 confirmed COVID-19 infections and 9,202 deaths caused by the virus since the beginning of the outbreak.
