China 'firmly opposes' latest US sanctions

The Chinese Foreign Ministry criticized the latest United States sanctions targeting Chinese companies.

The ministry's spokesman Zhao Lijian noted Beijing "firmly opposes" measures introduced over China's actions in the South China Sea.

On Thursday, the US Commerce Ministry announced sanctions against Chinese National Overseas Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and aviation company Skyrizon, claiming they represent a threat to US national security.
