Renault vehicle sales drop 3.4% in 2019

Groupe Renault announced in a press release on Friday that its vehicle sales were 3.4% lower in 2019 compared to the previous year.

The carmaker sold 3,753,723 vehicles worldwide globally and kept a market share of 4.25% in a market that decreased by 4.8%. Sales of electric vehicles amounted to 62,447, representing a surge of 23.5% in comparison to 2018. Sales increased by 1.3% and 2.3% in Europe and Russia, respectively, while plunging 17.2 in China. In the Americas, they were 2.9% down.

"In 2020, we will benefit from full-year sales of our best-selling New Clio and New Captur, as well as the acceleration of our electric and hybrid offensive, notably with New ZOE, Twingo Z.E. and E-Tech technology. We will continue to improve our price positioning initiated in 2019, supported by the quality and attractiveness of our new products," the French carmaker's Sales and Regions Executive Vice President Olivier Murguet said in the statement.
