Europe opens mixed ahead of ECB minutes

European markets opened mixed on Thursday as investors absorb the latest economic forecasts cut from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Meanwhile, on the data front, Gfk reported German consumer confidence improved in July. Investors are also monitoring European Central Bank monetary policy meeting accounts to be released.

The DAX grew 0.09% at the start of trading as Lufthansa AG went up by 14.31%. The FTSE 100 fell 0.24% in London with Evraz falling 1.11%. On the Euronext, the CAC 40 dropped 0.53%. Saint Gobain was the worst performer.

The euro declined 0.09% against the dollar at 9:03 am CET, buying 1.12404. Meanwhile, the pound was flat versus the greenback, going for 1.24190.
