Renault unions dismiss cutbacks - report

The majority of Groupe Renault unions are set to reject the cost-cutting measures proposed by the French carmaker, media reported on Tuesday.

CFE-CGC, CFDT, CGT, and FO labor unions, which represent the majority of Renault's employees are set to rebuff the automaker's plan at today's meeting with the company's executives, Reuters writes.

The cost-reduction plan, which was announced earlier in May, aims to save €2 billion over three years through layoffs and factory reorganization. Over 4,000 positions would be affected in France, in addition to a cut of more than 10,000 positions globally.
