Fernando Alonso, a Spanish racing driver who won the Formula One World Drivers' Championship in 2005 and 2006 with Renault, was rushed to a hospital after having been involved in a road accident, Alpine F1 Team stated on Thursday. According to the statement, Alonso was hit by a car while he was cycling in Switzerland but is "conscious and well in himself" at the moment. Alpine F1, which is the name Renault took after having undergone a rebranding, hired Alonso to return to Formula 1 racing after the Spanish ace spent two years competing in other categories. |
