Major European stock indices ended the Wednesday's session mostly higher as the Brexit process moved closer to being delayed again. Earlier, the European Parliament voted in favor of allowing the United Kingdom to delay its exit from the European Union, in case the country seeks an extension. Meanwhile, EU's chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier stated that the Union wants to avoid a physical border on the island of Ireland, but warned that Britain must offer a "legally operative solution" to replace the backstop.

The DAX closed 0.14% in the green with Wirecard as the best performer. The French CAC 40 jumped 0.26% at the close as Publicis Groupe led the gains. The British FTSE 100 ended the session flat.

The euro declined 0.10% against the US dollar, to go for 1.10620 at 5:30 pm CET, while the British pound lost 0.13% against the greenback, changing hands for 1.2483 at the same time.
