Dow surges 150 points after Trump says will meet Liu

Stocks in the United States turned positive on Thursday with the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumping 150 points after US President Donald Trump announced he will meet China's Vice Premier Liu He for trade talks on Friday, thus denying earlier media reports the Chinese delegation will cut its US trip short.

The Dow Jones rallied 0.57% or 150 points at 9:57 am ET. Caterpillar, up 2.05% at 9:59 am ET, led the gains.

The Nasdaq 100 climbed 0.73% at 9:59 am ET. The best performer was Skyworks Solutions whose shares soared 5.17% at 10:02 pm ET.

The S&P 500 rose 0.65% at 9:59 am ET as Freeport McMoran skyrocketed 5.38% at 9:50 am ET.
