Trump: Fed needs to lower rates despite China deal

"We have a great economy but we have a Federal Reserve that is not in step with the rest of the world," United States President Donald Trump said on Friday in the White House. After he outlined a "phase one" bilateral deal with China, he still called on the central bank again to cut borrowing costs further regardless of the major development.

The agreement is important for "world peace" and the significance goes even"beyond tariffs" or monetary policy but interest rates must go lower anyway, Trump stressed.
