Asia trades mixed with all eyes on trade deal delay

The equities on Asian markets traded mixed following reports suggesting that the signing of the phase-one trade deal between the United States and China may be postponed, even though US officials are looking for a suitable date and time for the meeting between the US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

The Nikkei 225 rose 0.25% at the close as well as the stocks on the S&P/ASX 200 which posted gains as the session ended, jumping 1.06%. The Shenzhen Composite increased 0.34% at 7:37 am CET, unlike the Shanghai Composite and the Hang Seng which slipped 0.12% and 0.30%, respectively, at 7:40 am CET. The Kospi Composite traded flat a minute later.

The US dollar lost 0.20% against the yen to go for 108.7355 at 7:41 am CET.
