Pound hits six-month high against euro

The British pound reached levels last recorded in May this year after a YouGov MRP poll, which is considered to be highly reliable due to its 2017 hung parliament forecast, showed that Prime Minister Boris Johnson can increase his party's seats by 42 from the last election and thus form a majority government.

The pound was 0.06% higher compared to the euro at 10:39 am CET, going for 1.17376. Earlier in the session, it reached a daily high of 1.17645. Compared to the euro, the pound increased 1.31% over the past month.

The British currency also gained 0.20% against the dollar to change hands for 1.29317 at 10:41 am CET.
