Swiss investment bank UBS Group stated on Thursday that the value of its sustainable investments grew more than 56% to $488 billion in 2019. At the same time, the company's investments in the energy sector dropped 40% due to more rigorous policy rules.

"We aim to be the financial provider of choice for clients who want to engage toward the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, while helping achieve an orderly transition to a low-carbon economy," the company's Chairman Axel Weber said in the statement.

Except for UBS, several other companies have recently also announced measures to support the battle against climate change, including World's second-largest miner Rio Tinto, British supermarket company Sainsbury's and Microsoft.
