Bayer has settled between 50,000 to 85,000 court cases in the United States rated to Monsanto's Roundup which has been linked to cancer, Handelsblatt reported on Monday. The company, which purchased Monsanto in 2018 thus inheriting the Roundup problem, is said to have agreed to pay from "a few million dollars" in some cases to "a few thousand" dollars in others.

Earlier, Bayer set aside $10 billion to put a halt to Roundup lawsuits since 125,000 cases have been filed against Monsanto in the US. The decision came after a court ruled in 2019 that a man developed cancer as a result of exposure to Roundup.

Bayer stocks jumped 4.02% in Frankfurt at 9:09 am CET.
