Europe higher in premarket amid vaccine news

Shares on major European stock exchanges were higher during premarket trading on Thursday following news of a successful coronavirus vaccine trial.

The early-stage trial of the experimental COVID-19 vaccine being jointly developed by Pfizer and BioNTech showed promising results. On the data front, investors will get a look at the latest unemployment figures from both the European Union and the United States.

The DAX climbed 0.79% at 7:25 am CET, while the FTSE 100 gained 0.50%. The CAC 40 was 0.53% higher. The euro was up 0.12% against the dollar at the same time, buying 1.12633.
