Inflation target is too far to discuss policy change - BoJ's Kuroda

Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda (pictured) asserted on Wednesday that the country is too far away from the targeted inflation rate to discuss ways to modify the current monetary policy.

Kuroda added that the central bank will intensify its efforts aimed at fashioning ways to abandon the low interest rates once the inflation rate is close enough to the targetted figure.

He has previously described the situation in Japan as "severe," but noted that the country's economy is showing signs of recovery despite the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
