US dollar drops as stimulus bill hopes grow

The United States dollar fell against the world's major currencies on Wednesday as the White House and Democrats are getting closer to reaching a deal on the country's fourth coronavirus aid bill.

White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows stressed that the both sides are looking to reach "some kind" of agreement in the next 48 hours, expressing optimism over chances of achieving that goal.

The dollar slid 0.90% against the yen, trading for 104.5475 at 9:56 am ET, while it declined 0.29% against the Swiss franc to go for 0.90434 concurrently. A minute later, the euro added 0.30% against the greenback to sell at 1.18583, while the British pound surged 1.31% at the same time, changing hands for $1.31178.
