The German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) said on Wednesday that the country's economy likely grew 6% in the third quarter of the year, but is about to slow down due to the new coronavirus wave.

The DIW explained that companies are still trying to overcome the challenges that appeared during the crisis, and are left with almost no financial reserves. The preliminary figures of German gross domestic product (GDP) are set to be published on October 30.

Meanwhile, a recent report claimed the government might tighten restriction measures due to the alarming rise of new COVID-19 cases.
