European stocks continue tumble, DAX loses over 500 pts

Major stock indexes in Europe dropped further below the flatline as concerns regarding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic increasingly burdened investor sentiment. European Commission's President Ursula von der Leyen warned that coronavirus cases in the bloc are expected to rise in the next two to three weeks.

The FTSE 100 slid 2.22% at 2:04 pm CET. The DAX plunged 3.91%, while the CAC 40 slumped 3.44%.

The euro fell 0.61% against the greenback at 2:06 pm CET, selling for 1.17243. The pound lost 0.78% to change hands for 1.29422 dollars.
