Europe opens higher with all eyes on ECB, earnings

Major European markets started Thursday's session in the green territory despite declining in premarket trade as investors mainly focused on earnings reports and awaited the European Central Bank's interest rates decision that is set to be announced during the session.

As the earnings season heats up, Royal Dutch Shell plc managed to beat analysts' expectations with its profits at $489 million in the third quarter.

The DAX jumped 0.74% at 9:07 am CET as Delivery Hero added nearly 3% at 9:15 am CET. Concurrently, the FTSE 100 went up by 0.34% as Royal Dutch Shell increased almost 4% at 9:03 am CET and the CAC 40 ticked 0.63% up with Orange surging 4% at the opening bell. The euro was flat to go for $1.17438 at 8:57 am CET, while the pound gained 0.12% against the dollar, trading for 1.29986 at the same time.
