Europe closes higher as EU, UK finalize Brexit deal

Major stock markets in Europe closed higher on Monday amid the finalization of the European Union and the United Kingdom's agreement over their post-Brexit trade relations. The bloc's Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER) unanimously approved the deal. Meanwhile, British Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove noted the "big arguments" between the two sides were "now being resolved."

The DAX surged 1.56% at the close as Delivery Hero SE went up by 9.46%. The CAC 40 jumped by 1.31%, with Carrefour SA increased by 3.78%. Meanwhile, the FTSE 100 remained closed for the holidays.

The euro rose by 0.25% against the dollar to sell for $1.22160 at 5:27 pm CET. A minute later, the pound sterling lost 0.83% to the greenback to change hands for $1.34468.
