Asia trades mixed after China's trade balance data

Asian stock markets traded mixed on Thursday following the release of China's December trade balance. The country's trade surplus increased to $78.1 billion, while imports rose by 6.5% and exports by 18% on an annual basis. Meanwhile, the United States House of Representatives impeached President Donald Trump for the second time for his role in the Capitol riots on January 6.

The Nikkei 225 grew by 1.66% at 4:36 am CET, while the S&P/ASX 200 was up by 0.52% at the same time. Hang Seng gained 0.50% at 4:37 am CET. The Kospi Composite added 0.22% at 4:17 am CET.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite lost 0.29% at 4:30 am CET, and the Shenzhen Composite was down by 0.82% at 4:36 am CET.

The dollar traded 0.18% higher compared to the yen, selling for 104.0655 at 4:39 am CET.
