WTO tells US to revise duties on S. Korean goods

Thursday, 21. January 2021 16:56

The World Trade Organization (WTO) ruled on Thursday that the United States tariffs on certain South Korean goods were inconsistent with the organization's rules and asked Washington to revise the measures.

The WTO panel found that the US "did not specify in detail the information required from the interested party and the manner in which that information should be structured as soon as possible after the initiation of the investigation" and "failed to take into account verifiable information, which was submitted appropriately and in a timely fashion."

The panel recommended the US modify the duties on different grades of steel and on large power transformers to comply with WTO rules.
