Pound trades on 31-month high against euro

The pound traded on 31-month highs compared to the euro and on levels last seen this April against the dollar as the United Kingdom's general election approaches and parties start their last days of campaigning ahead of the December 12 vote. Latest polls showed confidence that Prime Minister Boris Johnson would manage to regain a majority in Parliament for his Conservatives which they haven't had since 2017.

The euro was down against the pound, falling 0.09% to 0.84085 at 9:07 am CET. It has lost 2.51% against the British currency over the past month and 6.5% since January. Meanwhile, the pound increased 0.14% against the dollar to 1.31596 at 9:08 am CET
