Precious metals extend gains, silver up over 2%

Prices of precious metals remained in the green on Wednesday, with silver spiking over 2% and platinum nearing the 2% increase, as investors resort to the safe haven investments amid concerns about the effects of the government shutdown in the United States and global uncertainties in relation to Brexit and trade relations.

Silver jumped 2.31% at 5:02 pm CET, to sell for $15.12 per ounce, highest since mid-August. At the same time, gold continued its solid rise to $1,278.72 per ounce, or 0.74% higher, to the highest point since June 19.

Platinum rushed 1.90% higher at 5:05 pm CET, to $802.44 per ounce, as palladium added 0.34% to change hands for $1,233.12 per one troy ounce.
