Europe closes mixed as trade concerns linger

European equities finished trading on Tuesday mixed amid conflicting signals concerning the United States-China trade deal.

Earlier this week was reported that China is "pessimistic" regarding a trade deal with the US after President Donald Trump announced he hadn't agreed to roll back tariffs on Chinese goods. No details on the location and date of the signing of the phase one trade deal between the two countries have been announced yet, prompting more uncertainty.

The DAX gained 0.11% at the end of trading. led higher by MTU Aero Engines and Lufthansa. Meanwhile, the CAC 40 lost 0.35% as TechnipFMC declined over 2%. In London, the FTSE 100 advanced 0.22% at the close as Halma soared nearly 9%.
