US opens slightly higher as trade fears ease

United States stock markets began the last trading session of the week slightly up after media reported Washington was readying to grant temporary tariff exemptions for 437 Chinese products. Meanwhile, another report claimed the US wouldn't remove import tariffs on car parts made in Japan as a part of the expected trade agreement. In business news, Apple Inc. launched its new iPhone 11 smartphone series globally today.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.08% at the opening bell, as Pfizer Inc. gained 1.62%. The S&P 500 increased 0.05% with Biogen Inc. growing 1.69%. The Nasdaq 100 was flat at the same time, as Incyte Corp. rose 2.66%.

The euro fell 0.22% against the dollar at 9:29 am ET to change hands for 1.10169, while the pound traded 0.36% lower to $1.24781 at the same time.
