Asian stock markets mixed on trade

Shares on major stock markets in Asia were mixed on Wednesday with the media reporting the deadline for the implementation of new United States tariffs on China may be moved back. Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney claimed the trade negotiations with Beijing were going well, while the president Trump's economic adviser Larry Kudlow warned the duties on Chinese goods were "still on the table."

In China, the Shanghai Composite increased 0.13% at 03:40 am CET while the Shenzhen Composite slipped 0.51% a minute later. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.12% at the same time.

Japan's Nikkei 225 fell 0.26% at 03:39 am CET. The dollar was flat against the yen to change hands for 108.7310.

In South Korea, the Kospi Composite added 0.20% at 03:21 am CET, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.34% at 03:39 am CET.
