Dow drops 100 pts as relief bill talks hit roadblock

The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 100 points on Thursday as the House Democrats and the White House failed to reach an agreement on the fourth installment of the coronavirus relief bill.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asserted that today's talk with US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin showed promise, but also stressed that the differences between the two sides are still stark.

The Dow Jones dived 0.32% or 90 points at 2:18 pm ET, while the Nasdaq 100 gained 0.88%. At the same time, the S&P 500 was hovering around the flatline. The euro advanced by 0.16% against the dollar, selling for $1.17389 at 2:20 pm ET.
