Europe closes higher on US stimulus hopes

Major stock indexes in Europe finished the last trading session of the week higher after optimistic news regarding the United States stimulus deal. White House economic advisor Larry Kudlow said that the government is "probably closer" than it was a week or two back regarding the negotiations on the COVID-19 stimulus bill.

The FTSE 100 rose by 1.15% at the close. Barclays Plc was the best performer increasing by 6.44%. The DAX gained 0.71% as MTU Aero Engines jumped by 6.71%. The CAC 40 advanced 1.01% with Airbus hopping by 5.59%.

The euro went up by 0.17% to $1,8385 and the pound fell by 0.29% against the dollar to $1.3045 at 5:28 pm CET.
