An American digital currency exchange Coinbase tweeted on Thursday that there had been some connectivity issues and that their users should refrain from using their website until the whole thing is resolved.

The website tweeted: "We are currently investigating connectivity issues on Coinbase and Coinbase Pro. We're working quickly to implement a fix and we'll send an update as soon as it's resolved."

Yesterday, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong's said that United States Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin could introduce regulation on "self-hosted crypto wallets" which would impede the option for individuals to "store and use their own cryptocurrency" without needing to "rely on a third-party financial institution."

After the news, the price of Bitcoin went down by 10.34% to 16,861 at 10:05 am ET.
