Precious metals fall as COVID-19 worries persist

Prices of precious metals traded lower on Thursday to erase some gains recorded yesterday with the coronavirus pandemic remaining in investors' focus.

The United States registered a week-high 1,082 daily COVID-19-related fatalities, while Russia, the world's second-most affected country, surpassed 500,000 confirmed coronavirus infections.

Platinum sank 1.30% to trade for $831.87 per ounce at 5:05 am ET, while palladium lost 1.29% at the same time, selling for $1,929.76 per ounce. Gold decreased 0.24%, going for $1,733.87 per ounce a minute later, while silver fell 1.16% at 5:07 am ET to sell for $17.90 per ounce.
